What is Chair Pilates?

Chair Pilates is a great way to begin or continue your fitness journey! It is a form of Pilates which uses a chair in order to modify traditional Pilates movements and exercise to be more accessible for all ranges and abilities. It is always a surprise of how much one can do whilst remaining seated but with guidance you will see!

What do you need to bring?

When taking part, the most important thing to bring is yourself! Followed by active wear and a bottle of water! When taking part, the instructor of the class will also give you a resistance band to use for some exercises.

Who is it suitable for?

The beauty of chair Pilates is that it is perfect for those who are experiencing issues with their joints and/or need to build their strength back up! It is an impact free form of exercise making it safe for people right across the board!

What are the benefits?

As with any exercises the benefits are far-reaching but t0 name a few, maintaining and improving strength and balance, maintaining Bone Health or Bone Mineral Density and improvement of mobility! These improvements are especially important as we age as with improved strength and mobility comes reduced odds for having a bad fall.

Where and when are the classes on?

The classes take place in Douglas Community Hall on Tuesdays at 12:15pm and on Fridays at 11am.
